RFM Meetings

The Finance Ministers of the Americas and the Caribbean have agreed to hold an annual dialogue to discuss selected strategic development issues that are common to the region and have the potential to promote economic integration and cooperation. The meetings of regional finance ministers are also known by the acronym RFM.

2016 Meeting

The Eighth Meeting of Finance Ministers of the Americas and the Caribbean will be chaired by Mr. Santiago Peña, Minister of Finance of Paraguay, and will take place in the first week of October 2016 in Washington DC.

RFM Technical Secretariat

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through the Integration and Trade Sector (INT), acts as the Technical Secretariat of the RFM process, and provides technical and logistical support, in coordination with the country holding the chair and organizing the annual meeting.

Past events

The Finance Ministers Meeting has taken place altogether seven times. Previous editions have chaired by Mexico (2008), Chile (2009), Peru (2010), Canada (2011), Colombia (2013 and 2014; held in Washington DC), and Peru (2015).

At the annual RFM Meetings the Ministers discuss selected development issues of major importance that are common to the region and hold the potential to promote economic integration and cooperation.
